I was somewhat anxious for todays session as our trainer told that this last week would be more of theoretical in nature and would better learnt in face-face sessions but we now have to cover these concepts in online sessions. Session started with recitations and then reflections from few teachers after which definition of curriculum was asked to write on padlet wall. This brainstorming technique is always an effective tool for introduction of the topic. A healthy and eye opening discussion makes us realize the challenges and ground realities of our education system. I felt a bit low listening to how corruption, love of living in our comfort zones and no future vision, are the reasons our education is lagging even among all provinces. Trainer then explained concepts of syllabus, curriculum, scheme of studies. We learnt Competency, Standard, Bench Marks and SLOs in curriculum. We also learnt that in Computer Science, 7 competencies are needed to be developed. We were given the most challenging task after that where we have to align text book with curriculum. Our Room 7 has to work on Competency of Multimedia and Graphic Design. Our main issue was we could not find the standard, benchmark or SLOs in IX-X books. But Scratch might be considered as a tool for learning this competency. We thus use this chapter in our alignment. After comparing MSW Logo and Scratch, it seems like Scratch is more interactive and modern tool which can be used in Robotics also so would be a better choice for the curriculum. It was such a great learning opportunity. Looking at the details in documents of curriculum, scheme of studies and books, I can relate my practices in the school. I am also able to identify my mistakes while developing timetables, scheme of studies and syllabus distribution. This practice will inshallah improve not only my teaching experience but also help me in lot of administrative tasks in my school.
