Day 9

Topics: Assesment

Today the session started in a new style. Trainer played Surah Al Rehman and naat videos. Both recitations gave a soothing effect to whole class. Reflections of previous day then started. I could not complete reflection task of last day and so kept myself engaged in doing so and hardly listen to anyone reviewing previous day tasks. After reflections, presentation of remaining groups were conducted. I could not pay attention even to the presentations and now while I am reflecting, it gives me a guilt feeling as I have missed explanation of all other competencies. Theoretical part of our discussion started. The topic of discussion was Assessment which to me is always a difficult concept to understand. As a lot of time had spent on presentations, remaining time seemed to be short to complete it. Listening to lecture before a laptop without any break or activity, I realized that it is such a tough task to keep students engaged all the time. I started to lose focus all along and practically was not understanding a word of what's been taught. At the back of my mind, I do fear that for the activity task, I would have no concept or knowledge of topic. Before sending us in groups, trainer gave us much needed lunch break. Alongwith lunch, I skimmed through the handouts and presentation which were shared in meeting and tried to develop understanding of given task. In the meantime, Afsheen told that few of her efforts during COVID will be showcased after lunch. To my surprise, Mr Furrukh was asked to brief the working of Teams. In a very impressive and effective manner, he told us the story of Microsoft IDs and Teams in the department. He mentioned female group of Karachi, to work brilliantly during COVID. I happened to be one of the team member of that female group. It reminded me of our tiring and sleepless nights during COVID when we used to explore MS Teams, prepare presentations, videos for the staff and students. Afsheen presented her Sways, showing her school's online sessions. I was thinking that perhaps after that collaboration during Covid, this training has given us one more chance to work as team and to learn so many new concepts and practices. Right now we are feeling tired and overworked but my belief was and it will remain the same that hard work is always paid off. Sometimes this world recognizes and at other times, only Allah is the One who knows and will return us back in the best and unexpected manner inshallah. Task which was given was to be completed in groups but due to shortage of time it became home assignment. Working on the files, I came to learn few mind blowing and all new concept of step by step creation of items for an assessment test. I never had practiced such steps for paper setting. This will inshallah help me in refining my skills of creating new and innovative items based on proper rules. Once again this practice bring me up the level from just knowledge to 'create'.
